> Guidelines for submission of manuscripts

We welcome the submission of manuscripts from, broadly speaking, a social studies perspective covering the wider East Asian region (including Southeast Asia), both contemporary and 'modern period' (the last two-hundred years approximately).

Manuscripts should normally not exceed 10,000 words in length and should include a word count. We prefer to receive text files in MS Word for Windows or Macintosh or a format that can be readily imported into MS word. Tables, charts, photographs and other illustrations should appear on separate pages. Images will be sent in JPEG format for submission and TIFF format for publication; diagrams, charts, and table will be sent in MS Excel files. Diagrams and charts shall be accompanied with the original figures in MS Excel files.

In the first instance, manuscripts should be submitted through the EJEAS editorial platform at http://www.ejeas.net/
No submission will be received by postal or electronic mail. Click on "Register" and fill in the form. You will receive an email with a login and a password to upload your manuscript (and any supplementary files). An abstract of not more than 200 words and a short biography ("Note on contributors") of not more than 80 words will also be required before you can upload your manuscript.

Submission of a manuscript is taken to imply commitment to publish in the journal and an assurance that the paper is not currently being considered elsewhere. Manuscripts should not have been published elsewhere in substantially similar form or with substantially similar content. Authors in doubt about what constitutes prior publication should consult the editors.

Book reviews will also be received through the same platform.

Manuscript review procedure: All articles received are sent anonymously to two referees who are asked to respond within four to six weeks. Our policy is to respond to authors within three months.
